Review: Rehguzar
Rehguzar, directed by Faruq Masudi has Jimmy Shergill and Saloni Aswani in the lead roles. The film gives a picture of the drudgery of the manual laborers in the Gulf. The émigré from all over the world come with the dreams of a better life, but have to toil very hard to survive.
Rahul (Jimmy Shergill) is an engineer who comes to Dubai to realize his dreams. There he meets and falls in love with Neha (Saloni Aswani), the daughter of a prosperous businessman (Rajiv Verma) from India. Rahul gets employment in Rajiv Verma’s company. But he does not know that his employer is Neha’s father. The story narrates the trials and tribulations of his life, his failures and his victories.
The potential of the subject line concerning the plight of workers in Middle East is not realized fully due to the director’s shoddy handling. The story falls short of stimulating the sympathy of the audience. The sluggish tempo makes the film all the more dull. Aadesh Srivastava’s music adds nothing to the lackluster narrative. Even the cinematography is not up to the mark. The beauty of the landscape of the Gulf has not been pasteurized skillfully.
As for the acting, Jimmy Shergill makes a sincere effort, but that cannot save the tedious script. Saloni is just about alright. Vrajesh Hirjee and Rakesh Bedi offer a few amusing comic situations. The film itself has nothing to cater to the audience. This film is no celluloid magic. Moreover the lack of pre-release promotion will not help its cause at the box office.
