Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan has given some of Indian cinema’s most memorable performances. He is hugely popular with audiences in both India and abroad. His most recent performance was in the 2006 movie, Omkara, in which he played a villain. He was widely appreciated for this performance.
Saif is the son of Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. He has a sister, Soha Ali Khan, who is also an Indian film actress. His mother was an accomplished actress in Hindi and Bengali cinema.
Saif made his debut in 1993. He was not able to make much of a mark for the first few years of his career. He did manage a couple of hits but the first real blockbuster came in the form of Dil Chahta Hai (2001). In it he played a maverick Sameer, one of three friends. The other two friends were played by Akshay Khanna and Aamir Khan. He followed this performance up with another good performance in Kal Ho Na Ho (2003). But perhaps the most brilliant of all was the performance in Hum Tum (2004), in which he played a cartoonist.
Saif’s recent big hits have been Parineeta (2005) and Salaam Namaste (2005). His performance in Hum Tum won him the National Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Award for Best Comedian.
Saif separated from his wife, Indian actress Amrita Singh in 2004. He is currently dating Italian model Rosa. He is working on Tara Rum Pum and Eklavya: The Royal Guard, both of which are expected to release soon.
