Preity Zinta
Preity Zinta is arguably the top actress in India’s film industry. She started her career as a model and has never looked back since.
Preity’s first film to be released was Dil Se (1998). It was a big hit and won her the Filmfare Best Debut Award. She has acted with Bollywood’s top stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee in her films. Her next big success was Kya Kehna (1999), in which she played the role of an unwed mother. It was a fantastic performance and established her in Bollywood as the next big star.
Preity has since been involved in successful movies like Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Koi Mil Gaya (2003). Her role as Naina Kapur in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) won her the first Filmfare Best Actress Award. She is a good friend of Bollywood director Karan Johar. She worked in his 2006 film, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It was a runaway hit.
One of her most telling performances was in Veer Zaara (2004). In this movie she played the role of a Pakistani girl in love with an Indian boy. The movie was a huge hit. In 2005, she acted in Salaam Namaste, a film about live in relationships. It was a success both in India and abroad.
Preity Zinta studied criminal psychology in college, and finds the subject fascinating. She is currently dating Ness Wadia. She belongs to the hill resort of Shimla in North India, but lives in Mumbai.
